A Word of Caution To Spiritual Leaders

In this great country of ours called The United States of America, spiritual leaders are now confronted with the following challenge:

“The present need to mentor our families in the following fundamental areas; Identity, mindset, prayer, culture, worship, vision, service and giving. Ignoring it will result in the loss of the fabric needed to build a better Christ-centered believer in the present millennium.”

In 2012 when I wrote the book “Mentoring Winners,” I knew I had heard clearly from the Lord about bringing the topic of mentoring to the forefront of the spiritual conversation of the Body of Christ. Mentoring is another way of addressing the need of “fathering,” which is the role of apostles and apostolic people.

The election of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States, has exposed in vivid form the real soul of America. Since his election we have seen the uprising of people all over this land with their twisted, self-centered views and extreme concepts and ideas concerning God and country. However, it has also exposed the frailty and weakening deterioration of our soul as a Church.

I believe this was needed so we could see not only our real spiritual condition, but also to witness the arising of a true Remnant of believers. These are the ones who will confront the big Goliath of our time; which is hidden inside the dominant issues of our culture, politics and every other aspect of life in our land. In the Last Days the real fruit is going to be separated from the chaff.

The following fundamental areas in my estimation, need to be the focus of true spiritual leaders who the Father would separate and say like He said about king David.

“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” -Acts 13:22

  • Identity

  • Mindset

  • Prayer

  • Culture

  • Worship

  • Vision

  • Service

  • Giving

Identity: David knew who he was. Leaders today need to mentor their followers very specifically about teaching their children about who they are. If they don’t do this the school system may dictate to them the wrong identity.

Mindset: David knew, since he was a kid attending the sheep of his father Jesse, who was the source of his strength and everything he did to be a successful shepherd boy.

“Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God. Moreover, David said, The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David. Go, and the Lord be with you!” -1Samuel 17:36-37

Prayer: David constantly prayed. Your children need to see you praying and pray with you, so they know how to make it part of their spiritual fabric.

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in whom I will trust My shield and the horn[a] of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So, shall I be saved from my enemies.” -2 Samuel 22:3-4

Culture: David knew his culture was the kingdom of God. Your followers must know how to identify themselves during the confrontations and controversial conflicts of today’s world. They must, without a doubt, know the nature of the kingdom to whom they belong.

"And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. And the Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!” Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” -1 Samuel 17:45-47
